93% of SAG-AFTRA’s national board voted to ratify a new commercials agreement with the Joint Policy Committee, the body that represents commercial production companies and negotiates contracts with SAG-AFTRA at the end of each 3-year term.
SAG-AFTRA’s board is urging its members to ratify this new agreement which will increase benefit contributions and wages by 5.55%, and several new provisions that will provide for a safer and more dignified workplace.
The new agreement also addresses emerging streaming markets, promising to capitalize on the fast-growing form of digital distribution and standardizes methods for diversity, equity and inclusion.
The last barrier to approval is a member vote. Members will begin receiving instructions to vote this week and must vote by 5 p.m. PST on May 5. Results are expected to be released that same day.
